Part 1:

The first major takeaway from the article “Why Race Matters on the Internet” is that not everyone has equal access to the internet. This is due to the fact that “services are either too costly or unavailable in certain communities”, often communities where people of color are in the majority. The second major takeaway from the article is that black and Latino people are the fastest adopters of smartphones in the country. This is due to the fact that these groups of minorities, which are low-income users, are more likely to “go online using smartphones than desktops or laptop computers.”

The first major takeaway from the article “We Are Not The Same: Race and the Internet” is some individuals are stuck in the ideals they learned from their youth. Due to this, these individuals cannot “acknowledge that other people have a different set of ideals” which leads to “racial/political/religious quagmires.” The second major takeaway from the article is that “discussions about race and cultural identity are very delicate” but very necessary. When having these very much-needed discussions, both parties need to have and show respect to each other so that the conversation is beneficial.
